We never get to talk about sex on The Biscuit and that’s obviously because it is deemed as an adult subject. But when it comes to certain taboos and the human body we believe that there has to be a place for healthy discussion about these things. For this episode we are talking about sex but we put a lot of effort into making it sound “polite” as my guest says during our chat.
Coming from Pengwern Books on Fish Street, AL is joined by Violet Fenn. A brilliant author and ex writer of articles for Metro newspaper. We are also joined by shop owner Susan Caroline (in between her running her business of course)
Violet is an erotic fiction writer and an author of sex and death through the ages. Publishing “Sex and Sexuality in Victorian Britain,” “Secrets and Scandals in Regency Britain” and “A History of the Vampire in Popular Culture: Love at First Bite” and boy do we get into some great topics.
We discuss the changes in taboos, what has changed? What changed us? and how do things seem to be going backwards? Also, body positivity. In 2022 women should not be being pulled up for breastfeeding in public!! Social media. How have things like Instagram damaged the way we look at ourselves? Boobs. Adidas had an ad pulled recently for displaying the different shapes and sizes of boobs. Is was a very brave ad with a genuine purpose. Why is this deemed offensive?
There is so much we go into here. So please have a listen and I would genuinely love to hear back from you if you have any thoughts on the issues raised here.
Thank you to Susan for letting us use your wonderful shop as a studio and folks, please check out Pengwern Books on Fish Street, it’s wonderful.
Finally, please check out Violet’s website right here – https://sexdeathrocknroll.com/I promise you it’s nothing mucky. It’s actually a great site, with everything you need to know about our guest.
