Coming to you from the Old Market Hall coffee shop, AL brings you a very special episode and a first, on The Biscuit. Today AL is speaking to Swan, Lucy, Jo and Abbey about Signal, a charity that helps deaf people, people who are hard of hearing and people with tinnitus. Jo has an interpreter Abbey with her to translate what Jo is signing.

Amidst the familiar hustle and bustle of a busy Shrewsbury coffee shop we discuss what AL describes as etiquette when it comes to communicating with someone who is deaf, hard of hearing or has tinnitus. Jo tells us about the fundamental problems that are faced in a day-to-day, made especially worse by the pandemic.

Swan and Lucy talk to AL about the fine work that Signal do with liberating people who have been struggling, and making lives easier for those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have tinnitus. One of the things that Signal are doing is going around and speaking to local businesses to speak to them to find out if they can offer help to make things easier for customers.

This is a very interesting episode that I’m actually quite proud of. It was so nice to meet these guys, thank you so much for reaching out to me, loved speaking to you. Also to the Old Market Hall, especially Roberto who was very helpful. Let’s do this again sometime.
