For the Mile Of Smiles event on Sunday 25th July, The Shrewsbury Biscuit Podcast had the great honour of being able to set up a studio for the day. The goal was to sample and document the event with as many great interviews as they could get.
AL and Leon speak to Ellis Unchained who was the 1st poet up on stage at Mile Of Smiles. Ellis is a former soldier who was diagnosed with PTSD. His mental health steadily declined to the point where he was seriously contemplating suicide. Ellis found his strength through poetry and spirituality. Meditation was also key.
AL and Leon have a sincere discussion with Ellis about his journey, they are joined by Jill Simkin too who is a colleague of AL’s at Shrewsbury Prison.
